Hi there! Just browing the net looking for Eurogames stuff and I “landed” to your site.
Must say, I do like and agree on most of your blog topics. Very interesting, informative, provoking yet entertaining.
I am gay and part of the minority. I was born in Asia but grew up in DC:-) and now living here in Kapellen. Tried to intergrate myself( even went to the course for that, lol) with the locals as well as the gay locals ( even joined Active Company ).
What’s happening with the younger gay society. Did they lose the PRIME AND PROPERNESS of being gay? Am no Martha Sterwart, but these kids needs a conk on their heads sometimes and know what’s proper and right. Sad to say, they are so well informed of what’s new, what’s hot and not, but when it comes to social graces, NULL POINTS,lol
I must say, in general , the society here is tough. Being an Asian, they look at you as an “IMPORT” or “EXOTIC” or “YOUR-NOT-ONE -OF US”. I don’t push myself to be “ONE OF THEM”, but I try to speak and learn the language. Furthermore, accept and understand the norms of life here.
Tho, what I have noticed after living here for 2 years now, some people here can’t accept or understand the fact that being an ALLOCHTONE can also excel or have better jobs & life. They seemed to gereralised that if youre an allochtone, your one level lower.
In the positive side( yes there still positive side of it!!,lol) I have met locals both str8 and gays who have accepeted me , as me. I never felt being “different” whem am with them. They enever saw or treatded me as an ASIAN or an allochtone. Bravo for them
As for the gay scence, well it’s all the same everywhere we go. But what I hve noticed here in Antwerp, is that the younger gays ( am 35 ,lol), don’t have social graces like “my generation”. I mean , like when u go to a par or a club, they don’t mind pushing you, stepping on your shoes WITHOUT SAYING : EXCUSE ME
Anyway, sorry to take your time and unload my angts to you….
But hey, continue your blog , it’s good… YES, finally some blogger writing good stuff, not about their lastest acquisition or boring holidays experience…lol
Keep up the good work ::-)
Enjoy this HOT HOT SUMMER !!
while am off to go participate in the forth coming OUTGAMES in Montreal ( am doing the Conference & “playing” badminton”, yes am representing BELGIUM… oh la la,lol)
hear from you soon
cheers,
Miguel

Peter,
Hey, I post pictures of my mom, dog and where I live. You calling me boring???! Don’t make me come to Antwerp and show you how UN-boring I am.
xox

No way Claudia, you are living proof that posting pictures of one’s mum, dog and home has no connection whatsoever with being potentially boring

Very nice site. I have an interest in visiting Belgium sometime in the future and stumbled across your site while looking for stories regarding Belgian customer service. I have read that, while not non-existent, is the polar opposite of what is practiced here in the States. Your story of being given the wrong microwave was interesting, and I suspect that is just a small example of what can go wrong.
I like to know all that I can about a country before visiting, hence the interest in customer service, so this way I am not surprised too much when I get there.
Do you ever read the blog “My Boyfriend Is A Twat?” It is written by an expat Brit in Brussels. Funny as hell, and has also given me glimpses into Belgian life.
I’ll keep reading, and feel free to drop by my site when you have a moment.
