  1. Somehow those things all seem related… I love that building, too. I think I would like to have a Chippendale. All I’d really want him to do is sit or stand in a corner in my room and let me touch his rippling biceps and shoulders whenever I wanted. My friend makes fun of me when we hang out with a group of our gay friends…but of course they all work out, and I get to spend the evening feeling up their awesome shoulders; they seem to enjoy the attention (even from a girl). My friend can mock me all he wants, but I think he’s just envious that I can touch them, and he might get more than he bargained for if he does (but perhaps more than he ever dared hope -hee-).

[Blog author: "I'm glad you noticed some connection Mel: these two photos of mine are factually related (it's real complex, but eventually I hope someone comes up with a plausible link). If I'm ever in Texas, you must introduce me to your gay friends: you know, the "let me touch his rippling biceps and shoulders whenever I wanted" part made me drool all over my keyboard. Yes, I'm happily taken, but over the years part of the 'rippled bits' have turned into 'wrinkled bits' :D "]

  2. And which strip show will YOU be enjoying? :P

[Blog author: "Trust me Manic: if I had a strip show coming, you'd get to see the pictures right here ;-) "]

  3. Oh, Peter, I come here for entertainment today and you have a puzzle to be solved … not enough energy this afternoon and suffering from brain fog. I’ll just enjoy the pics. ;-) Is the art the cafe itself (lovely structure and colors–nice that the folks in front wore complementary and like colors), or is there more art inside? I’ve been getting to see some fantastic art lately (trip to National Gallery and several museums with surprising private collections) and all the works have me in awe and lusting for more.

I don’t know about the Chippendale guys. They are just too perfect for me. I like an authentic man with a good body, but some flaws. I am not much on the six packs … just too much for me.

[Blog author: "The puzzle is quite easy Shirley, but only for those who can read Dutch: a nun in Dutch is a "non". The fake nun ('non') is holding a flyer for the play "nonsense": I'm sure you got it now :D The Horta Grand café was built with pieces of salvaged steel building beams, from buildings designed by art deco designer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Horta. Behind the Grand Café Horta (only in Dutch, but do check out the pictures at 'galerij' [="gallery"] ) you’re looking at the new Antwerp city theater, linking back to the theater play ;-) Same feeling here about the Chippendales: way too perfect. ” ]

  4. I dressed up as a nun once, walked into a flower shop, never saying a word, holding up my hand for silence everytime someone would ask me if they could help me. Then all of a sudden I said, “I think I’m going to dance now!” And started dancing and jigging all over the store and then finally walked out with the clerks mouths hanging open. That was fun!

  5. Ah, Peter, thank you! Yes, I get it. (Breathing a sigh of relief that I am not completely brainless.) Thanks for the explanation and links … definitely great pics. I want to go to a show in the theater and have a meal in the cafe! Must add to my sites to visit list.

  6. I don’t know about the fake nun, but I did date a Catholic school girl in my youth, and her uniform was definitely NOT fake. Aside from eating a ham and cheese sandwich, it was probably the most sacrilegious thing this Jewish guy has done. Wait, strike that. I married a Catholic girl. ;-)

As for the Chippies, every time I see a poster for them, I can’t help but think of “The Full Monty.”

[Blog author: "I loved that tale of six unemployed steel workers too: last month a Dutch TV channel tried the same concept live: turn 6 unemployed very regular guys in pro strippers. In the end, they met the touring Chippendales in Amsterdam. Not sure if I'm into these kinds of make-overs ;-) Oh, I'm Catholic too, just like every native Belgian I suppose. But we're the weddings-and-funerals-only variety. Faith is no longer an issue for most secular Belgians, with only the non-Christian immigrants making it a factor again. "]

  7. Peter, if you go and look on my flickr page, find the set called “Matthew’s 40th Birthday”, and drool to your heart’s content. Matthew, the bday boy, is in the green shirt, and his SO Quan is the shoulders in the orange shiny shirt. Then there’s Rod, whom I only met that night, and you will notice there is at least one photo of me standing strategically close to him. Actually in between him and Quan. I swear Rod’s bicep is as big as my thigh. I also got a shot of my friend sitting suspiciously close to Rod as well. So busted.

[Blog author: "I just browsed them Mel: looking at DSCF0042 (must be Rod) I witnessed what you meant by 'a bicep is as big as my thigh' :D Still looking for your friend though, was it on DSCF0029 ? I left a comment at DSCF0063 :P "]

  8. Yes, my friend is the guy with the beard and the plaid hat (never thought I’d go for facial hair, but it works for him). One of the ones you commented on is the two of us; we’re not often in photos together. And yes, Rod likes to have his picture taken. He smiled like that whenever anyone’s camera even looked like it was pointed at him.
