Quote: “European Heritage Days: an opportunity for everyone to access
treasures previously a privilege of the elite”. This year, ‘living’ is the focus.
Like most Parisians ignore the Eiffel Tower, many inhabitants of Antwerp
tend to ignore the beauty that is right in their back yard. I’ll post some shots
you probably won’t find in regular guidebooks. Photo: water pump, located
in “House the golden hand”, build 1505, currently a Spanish specialty store

I mean … Vlaeykensgang

Thanks Di!
[You first spelled it like a real Antwerp native would pronounce

it, and that's the ultimate proof of perfect integration
Actually, I got the same impression when I first saw it.
Last Sunday (Sept 9th) many Antwerp private residences showed off
their often remarkable medieval treasures. “House the golden hand”
is located near the Antwerp riverbanks, but I wandered through
so many locations I’d never seen before. Time to sort through
an ever growing number of photographs.

I do enjoy your photography! And I loved your post on climbing the Centraal Station roof. Congratulations!!!

Thanks again for the compliment Di. Coming from a pro makes me value it even more.
But I guess I overestimated myself last weekend, my bones are killing me. It’s more than just adapting having to switch to my left arm/hand. While climbing, using my left hand was often not an option, as there was only one gaping 200 feet deep void.
Anyway, it was a great experience. The Antwerp Central railway station never allowed any passenger on their rooftop during the past +40 years (they would have crashed right through the countless holes
)
