If you’re a regular reader, you probably know that I’m currently being treated for a spinal injury.
Selecting a clinic from the ample choice available in Antwerp proved difficult, but this photo on
one of their websites immediately convinced me. Just look at the way this ‘patient’ and male nurse
are smiling at each other: when were you last treated with so much ‘adoration’? Little did I know
the clinic paid a Serbian soccer player (left) and a model (right) for this fake PR shot. Reality check:
I’m being treated by Antwerp ‘Helga’ (her name says it all) and many patients arrive in wheelchairs.
So much for my “gay nurse” fantasy. How’s your MD treating you?

I’m so sorry … that’s a rather superb piece of advertising.

False advertising! Too bad. But you might recover more quickly if Helga’s all you’ve got to work with…
You crack me up.

@Pamela: glad I made you laugh
To be honest, I even ended up in a weird discussion with “Helga” on who knew most about anatomy (advice: don’t try to beat the pros), but you’re right: it wouldn’t be helpful if I were surrounded by Barbie and Ken lookalikes.
@Di: It sure is a great photo. Imagine: they actually paid a famous Antwerp soccer player (he’s Serbian, guess many people in Antwerp will know his face/name) to pose as a “satisfied patient” on the front page of the clinic’s website. The look of sheer adoration on (both) their faces is stunning indeed.

This would work better for me if the soccer player was the “nurse” in the photo, but hey, we’ve got to show off his tanned thighs, now don’t we? : )

You know, this Belgian/Serbian soccer player is actually a star locally. And yes, his legs are really worth millions - I wonder how much the clinic had to pay for this endorsement (they actually treat sports injuries).
Anyway, this may explain why my medical bills are so high. I’m getting treated in a place endorsed by a “star”

well. I’ve never heard of words ‘gay’ and ’serbian’ used in the same sentence before

Neither did I, Drasko. Being openly gay and living in Serbia is not very obvious [http://www.google.com/search?q=serbia+homophobia].
While this soccer player (I do know his name) is obviously as straight as they come, this is one of those rare “straight shots” with an unintentional but very striking homo-erotic overtone.

I’m sorry, but I’d like to do a few squats with the nurse. He’s got a slightly more ’soft’ disposition which would allow me to….
Damn.
I need to go take a shower now before I pervert your blog and take advantage of your cold medicine lethargy. (Is that even a word? Well, it is now.)
